Ali Mohammadabadi
Ali is a patent agent with the firm and has worked at an AmLaw 100 firm drafting over 40 applications and prosecuting patents in areas of medical devices, robotics, mechanical and electromechanical systems, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and clean energy.
He was previously a research assistant and a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Diagnostic Radiology & Nuclear Medicine where he led mechanical design and development of custom transducers, robotic guidance systems, and an implantable device program, directing work across Neurosurgery, Biomedical Engineering, and the HEPIUS Innovation Laboratory; manuscript in review at Science Advances. He co-developed a biocompatible flexible-electronics and ultrasound implant, coordinating engineering and clinical stakeholders from concept through preclinical testing. He is also the author of 10+ peer-reviewed papers and an experienced inventor-facing technologist, comfortable leading disclosure meetings across unfamiliar technical domains.
Ali has a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMB), a M.S. in mechanical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University / University of Michigan Joint Institute, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
