An Invention by a Machine (App. No. 16/524,350)

In dismissing a petition filed against a decision refusing to vacate the Notice to File Missing Parts of a Nonprovisional Application listing a machine named "DABUS" as the inventor, the United States Patent and Trademark Office held that an "inventor" must be a natural person and cannot encompass machines (e.g., neural networks).
